Our Corporate Product website is running on DNN 05.04.00 (107)  Upgrade to 7 is slated but not done as yet.

This problem seems to have begun after exporting page content as templates, as I recreated on our Staging platform as well.

After I exported a few pages as templates, now when creating new pages, either by using Default template, or selecting an exported template, or by copying an existing page... the new page has multiple (40+) rogue footer modules added.

When I exported pages as template I did choose to Include Content, as that's exactly what I wanted.  The footer module is created on the Home page and selected to Display on All Pages.  However the rogue footer modules being created on new pages includes an old footer module that doesn't even exist on any page right now.

Any help is appreciate, no one in-house has a clue.  I cannot manually delete each of these rogue footers manually everytime I create a page, it would take ages.  Is there a way however to delete them right from the database?

BTW, I cannot upload any images to attach to this thread.  When I click Image Manager above, the Root folder is the only one I can upload to and when I do, my images aren't there.

Thank you kindly,

Steve

Steve;
We would suggest you uncheck "Display on All Pages" prior to creating a template.
If you truly required item(s) to "Display on All Pages" you would have to re-enable after creating a page with the new template

Hi Ken, thanks for your reply.

I was wrong in assuming it had to do with page templates. I unchecked the footer module from displaying on all pages and pages are still created with (ever more) rogue footer modules (50+ now).

Please note that one of the footer modules being repeatedly created doesn't exist anywhere else on the site. I deleted it a while back.

I also tried creating a page using the New button and specifying no template. The problem still occurs.

I carefully checked over the XML of the Default template, it's still exactly as per the original installation in 2010.

I appreciate it if you or anyone can provide any counselling or troubleshooting steps. This has ground my ability to create pages to a halt.

To be quite sure, I deleted the one footer module I have and tested.

With no existing footers, pages are still created with 50+ rogue footers, one of which, as mentioned isn't anywhere on the site.

Please, is there any troubleshooting steps to take OR is there a way to delete modules in the SQL tables if I have too?  I cannot sit and select each module and delete.

Thank you kindly!

Update: please forgive my panic, Ken, and you were totally right.
No wonder you're a Test Lead. heh.

There were still instances of those modules on pages and they were all set to Display on All Pages.
So I guess when creating new pages, it kept creating a new instance of the module to display on all pages and it just kept feeding on itself.
I took my most recent page, set each of the modules to not display on all pages, then deleted them all.
The site is back to normal.

I do apologize again for the panic.
Thank you kindly for the correct answer.
