I can create a new page and I can drop an HTML module on it, but existing pages I can no longer update. WHy can I not add HTML module to existing pages? Is this some page setting? I cannot seem to find the problem, especially this has been working, but no longer does. Kind of baffled

You might try clearing the cache and restarting the app.

If that doesn't help then try running your preferred browser debugger to check if you are seeing any javascript errors.

yes, I have done those things...reset cache and checked for javascript, but nothing to hang my hat on. It seems to be related to the "hover", because I can drag the item over the page, but none of the containers changes color as a target. If I drop it anyway, I get no error and no added item. weird. Never seen this behavior before.

No error messages coming up in the console of your browser debugger while you refresh the page?

If you are using composite files then you might bump the version.

Almost always a skin or module's js is the culprit.   It don't think CSS would affect the drop event though it may be indicative of some CSS conflicts which could be suggestive of some js issues.

I sometimes resort to stripping out js files until things act like I am expecting.  Simple process of elimination will probably reveal the offender.   If you are comfortable working with the skin you could investigate the js it is including and strip it down till you get the ui working right.   Of course if it is not related to your skin's javascript then you won't have a solution but you might also get lucky and narrow it down.

Very, very strange...I have tracked it down to the existence of a particular custom module on the page. It was a quickie one I wrote based upon a DNN5 module. A module that had worked fine in DNN5 and DNN6 and in DNN7, but I am thinking I MUST have tweaked something in the module user control that is causing the error. Looks like I am going to have to run this in debug and see if I can track it down...and/or just start the brute force reduction of the client side code until the error is exposed. Anyone else ever had a custom module break things in this fashion? If so, resolution?

@DNNMonster - appreciate the ideas.
thanks,
