I have a website with a few basic modules such as Download and Form&List.

In Edit-mode, these modules also are displayed in the skin of the website. Because of a reason I don't know, the width of the Edit-panels, such as the Text-editor, are set to 400px. There's a lot of whitespace available at the right, and I don't know where this boundary comes form. AFAIK, it's not in my skin.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

check admin > Site Settings for the skin to be used in Admin (Edit) mode.

Thanks for your answer.
But I think it doesn't help me yet. I knew I can set the skin of the Admin Edit mode there, and I changed it to the website's one. But strange thing is that when I want to change anything in a standard module like the Form and List, the Editor that shows has a width of only 400px, while there's no reason for that. See the printscreen below. How can I configure thisr?

Some more information, I still hope to get another answer:

In the Documents module, I see a Table with the following inner style:
<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="560" summary="Edit Documents Design Table" border="0">

In the Form and List module, there's a DIV with the following inner style:
<div id="dnn_ctr1266_Form_Samenvatting" class="RadEditor Default reWrapper" style="border-width: 0px; height: 500px; width: 400px; min-height: 500px; min-width: 400px;">

I don't where the values for 'width' come from??

you should be able to override it in portal.css using !important
