Hi Everyone... I just did a fresh install of DNN 4.3.4 w/ SQL 2005 Express... things seem to be working, except for the Events module.  I can add it just fine, it appears, but as soon as I hit the settings option, I get this error:

Error: Module is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.Exceptions.ProcessModuleLoadException(PortalModuleBase ctrlModule, Exception exc) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.EventController.UpgradeEvents(Int32 ModuleID) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.Settings.LoadSettings() at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Modules.ModuleSettingsPage.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) in E:\DotNetNuke_2\Admin\Modules\ModuleSettings.ascx.vb:line 264 --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Take care,
Mike

Hi Everyone... I'm just bumping this one back to the top... I'm really frustrated...  :(  This is the only dotnetnuke module that isn't working for me.  If someone has the sourcecode, could they please tell me what lies around line 264 in the modulesettings.ascx file?  Perhaps that will provide some clues as to why it isn't working?

Thank you!
Mike

Have you tried backing up your db and logging in as host, delete the module definition and events module and uploading a new events mod from another fresh DNN 4.3.4 Zip pack?

Thanks for the suggestion... I'm still kinda new to DNN and troubleshooting procedures when it comes to stuff like this.  I upgraded to 4.3.5, tried it, and still didn't work.  Then, I tried just deleting the Events Modules, and re-uploading it... no dice.  I just tried first deleting the definition, then deleting the module, and re-uploaded it.  Still getting a similar error... although this time, it's no longer giving me a line number... :(  If you have any other suggestions to try, I'm game... :)  Thanks, Mike.

I solved the issue.  I ended up trying to see if v3.01 would work for me... After installing it, I was getting some nasty SQL connection errors.  I ended up going into my appsettings in the webconfig, and using the regular old SQL authentication string instead of the newer SQL2005 Express string... created a regular SQL user, gave it dbo, and voila the old Events module worked without error.  So, I wiped it, and installed the newest v3.02 module, and no problems there either!  Guess the newest version doesn't give the clearest error descriptions any longer!  :)  Thanks all to those who helped!  Take it easy, Mike.
