Is it possible to have people respond that they are planning on attending an event?

And more basically,  I've set up a test event but when I click on it, I don't get any additional detail.  Is there a setting I've missed somewhere? 

I'm sure these are basic questions, but I just need a shove in the right direction.  My apologies is this is covered somewhere (and if it is, please direct me to the right place)!

There' s an enrollment option, which must be activated explicitely in the Enrollment section of the module settings, but I never really used it, so I don't know how it works in practice, sorry! I don't know how up-to-date the online help for this module is, but I think it's worth looking at.

What view has your module - month, week, list? If it's month view, make sure to click on the event name, not on the date. If there's no event displayed, even if you entered one, make sure that the Disable Month View Cell Events option in the module settings isn't disabled.

Its in the month view - I can't even switch to the different options.  I've tried reinstalling the module to see if that helps, but it looks like I'm running into the same thing.  I did verify that Disable Month View wasn't checked.

i'm working from memory but isn't there a module setting to change the default view?

Yes, but when I try changing it to the week or list, it stays stuck on month.
