I've noticed several issues when working with the newest Events 4.01 Beta on DNN 4.9.1.  Fortunately the other issues I found in the first public beta were resolved.  I'm just getting around to putting some more time into the project.  Hope these can be addressed.

1.  Default theme/skin won't use the full width available inside the module.  This appears to be different then the Event theme/skin. [IMAGE]

2.   When selecting the GRAY theme/skin the Calendar month view does not scale correctly to match the screen/module size.  I would imagine all of the themes (except the small one) should scale according to your site's theme and the module constraints. [IMAGE]

3.   When using the EVENTS theme/skin, each of the day boxes in the Month view appear to have a fixed height.  Having a fixed height is not a problem, but if there are more events then can be displayed no scroll bars (for the day) are available as they are with the FIXEDBLUE theme. [IMAGE]

4.   When you view an Event's Details page all of the events details are listed as expected.  There appears to be a large GAP between the bottom of the actual event details and the RETURN, EDIT, EDIT SERIES and DELETE links.  This large gap is not present in the current Events RTM release. [IMAGE]

5.  Is there any way to force an event’s details to stay within the confines of the SITE or PORTAL's skin??  We're seeing issues were people are creating events and force the site to stretch beyond its design limits.  You can view an example at http://www.justcircuit.com/Events/tabid/56/ModuleID/369/ItemID/3015/mctl/EventDetails/Default.aspx.  Ideally we'd like the same thing to occur when someone links to a graphic from an external site.  The graphic or content should be scaled to fit the module constrains and not expand the total site to fix the content.  Perhaps a horizontal scroll bar could be leveraged to address.

I will continue to probe to find additional issues, but the release is looking better all of the time!

Hi Bill,

Again thanks.

  1. This is by design. It scales to 95% of the available space. More below....
  2. Again by design. It scales to 75% of the available space.
  3. I've fixed this, it nows scrolls. In the next beta...
  4. Yes, we already spotted this one, and fixed a couple of days ago. Agian, in the next beta.
  5. I suspect this is something that should be fixed at the module container level. I think you should be able to do this the module css. "overflow: auto;" is what I have just used in item 3.

So I said above, that there would be more on points 1 & 2. These themes are just starter themes, and have been laid out in these formats for a number of years now, with minor changes along the way. Where possible we try not to alter them, since that would affect people using them. Consequently where people are using the Default and Gray themes using 95%/75% of available space, they are presumably happy with that.

It is possible to use your own themes, and we have made this more accesible for users who aren't Host on their sites, but are admins, or have been delegated permission to the correct folders. In the current beta, when you go to edit the module settings, it will create a folder structure under your portal root if it doesn't already exist. This would be something like '\Portals\0\DNNEvents\Themes'. The module then searches this directory for folders, which is them presents as custom themes in the settings dialogue (the option is greyed out, if there are no custom themes). The css file in the folder must have the same name as the folder.

Hope this helps
Roger

I'm having a difficult time tracking down exactly where and how to add overflow:auto;.  I've tried several places and several implementations without success, including !important.  Any ideas??

Sorry, not a container expert. May be worth posting in the skinning forum.

Cheers
Roger

Actually I figured out a way to do it in the Event Theme/Skin itself.  Ideally I'd like this to work across the board, but my fix will work for now.
