I have a rather simple question that may have been answered else where but do users have to be able to edit the entire page to add events to the events module? I would like to allow certain users to be able to add events/edit events but dont want them to be able to edit other aspects of the page.

Assuming you are using version 4.0.2 just give the users edit permissions to the module, and they will be able to add/edit/delete their own events. They don't need edit permissions to the page.
