I believe i have the module settings set correctly to allow non registered users(guests) to Add Events to the event calendar.  In the module settings, I have all default user roles assigned 'Edit Module' permissions and Adminstrators to 'Events Moderator'.   Even with this all set correctly, the user MUST register to allow the AddEvent button to show.

When a non registered user views the page the 'Mode: View or Edit shows in the upper left with 'View' selected.  If you try to selected 'Edit', it submits the page and auto selects the 'View' option again.

When a registered user view the page the 'Mode: View or Edit' shows in the upper left with 'Edit' selected.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I wouldn't have though DNN supported unauthenticated users having edit rights to a page. But I'm not sure on that.

In any case, the module does not support unauthenticated users adding events. Sorry.

Module settings certainly lead one to believe that this is possible.  i.e.  Under the Module Settings >> Basic Settings >> Permissions ;  it displays a checkbox for 'Unauthenticated Users" in the 'Edit Module Events' column.   When setup it even shows the Edit/View radio options in the top left to unauthenticated users.  Why are these options displayed if they are not meant to work correctly?

Thank you.

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

The module uses the standard DNN permisisons grid available in the module settings. In DNN 4.x it isn't possible to limit this grid (as far as I can see), so I don't believe we can 'grey' out impossible options. I'm prepared to be corrected if this is wrong. I think it is possible to do this in DNN 5, but the module currently is supported in a common fashion across DNN 4 and 5, so we are going for lowest common denominator currently.

I can't comment as to why the radio buttons show at top left, since these are not implemented or controlled by the module. It seems odd than when you click Edit it swaps back to View, but I'm afraid to answer that I suspect you will need to question elsewhere.

I notice the behvaiour is exactly the same on other modules, try Text/HTML for example.... I suspect therefore this is a common issue.

Cheers
Roger
