I new to DNN, so initially I installed 4.9.4 but then decided to upgrade to 5.1.1.  I noticed a few things have changed with 5.1.1and in the MODULE DEFINITIONS, it says EVENTS is using 4.0.2 and an upgrade to 5.00.01 is available.

I downloaded the upgrade but now I am at a lost where to apply this new update.  Sorry for asking a newb question on this.

Thanks.

Upgrading any DNN  module is like installing any module. That's one of the beauties of DNN.

  • Login as Host
  • Host menu: Module Definitions
  • Choose the action: Install module:
  • Browse to your Events 05.00.01 .zip upgrade file that you have downloaded
  • Click Next a couple of times
  • Ready!

The Events module is now upgraded, data has ben upgraded, modules on pages have been updated.

BTW You might want to check all new and changed things in 05.00.01. Have a look at this posting

Thanks I see it now.  I thought that would be the case but here is something weird and maybe its a bug.  I see it with a USER profile created as the initial HOST User account on my initial installation of DNN.   Now that I have AD installed, I wanted to have one of my AD user account to have HOST account priviledges too, which is actually myself.  I posted a question in the forum how to make a secondary HOST user account.

A suggestion was made to go to the USERS table and go to the USER account I want to give HOST account priviledges and change the column IsSuperUser to a 1 or true.  I did that and that AD User is now a HOST account privelege user when I log in.  But it looks like even though I did that, it may have left some other areas not to be visible i.e  Install module option when I go to HOST | Module Definitions

Thoughts?

The option to install a new module should be in the "Action" menu of the container. The small arrow at the top left.

Positon the mouse there and a menu should become visible, where Install module is one of the options.
