Hi;

I'm using the new 5.0.3 release of the Event module in which I know you have made changes in the way the events are ordered. Specifically i'm asking about the weekly display. Whatever was changed has improved the display some. I have several (different) events scheduled at the same time (horizontal) as well as at different times (vertical). In essence, there are 3 types of events running simultaneously throughout the day.

If you can tell me how they are ordered, I may be able to improve the appearance somewhat. Currently there appears to be no particular order.

Regards.

Currently they are sorted by start date, start time and last recurrence date. I have to say the logic behind sorting by last recurrence date escapes me, it probably should be the end time of the event. What the week view does to then arrange these on the timeline is beyond me, the week view control is pretty much a black box to us.

Cheers
Roger

Thanks. Sorting by time on the week view does not make much sense since times are normalized by the timeline. It would seem to me that sorting by the combination of category and location is the only sensible thing. (Sorting by date and time is already done inherently in the week view). Event though this is a black box, I would like to suggest that someone considers this enhancement. If there is a db procedure which does this, let me know, I'll work on it.

Regards

Hans

Hi Hans,

Feel free to take a look at the code, it is available on CodePlex. The stored procedure that gets ranges of events for display is EventsGetByRange. Bear in mind that this sproc is used for all views, so I would suspect that changing the sort order for week view would be a code change not a sproc change.

Cheers
Roger

Looked at the procedure and how it being called. For the week view, it is invoked just once with a date range starting a week (7 days) before the first date to be displayed and ending on the correct date. So, clearly all building of the display does not depend on any sorting order in that proc. (I tried changing the order and it has no effect on the (week) display).

I am not familiar with codeplex. Can you give me a reference so i can look there.

Regards

Hans
