Please be aware that DotNetNuyke 5.5.0 Alpha introduces a change that breaks the Events module. We are working to identify a mechanism to resolve this issue. In the mean time, please do not upgrade any production sites to 5.5.0 Alpha. Given that the DNN version is Alpha code, I would not expect this to impact anyone.

Thanks
Roger

That last part is funny :)

It's amazing what some people will actually do to their websites! It is most definitely alpha code and not recommended for production use, but someone most definitely will :D

Well I expect people will Chris :-D, but I'm not sure we should have to be dealing with the foolhardy... If people try Alpha code, then they should be able to get themselves out of the mess they get themselves into.

But at least I put a warning up :-)

We have posted a new version of the Events Module on CodePlex and into the DNN Release Process. Please see here for more details - http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/F...

Note that you will have to upgrade to version 5.1.3 of the Events Module on any site running DNN 5.5.0 Alpha.

Cheers
Roger

I found your comment even more funny...

Some people are force to do upgrades to fix bugs... for example 5.4.2 add some bugs that made me upgrade a production site to 5.4.4 (i did pass to 5.4.3, but I just rolled back to my backup since it was worst) but only a week later we find that 5.4.4 cause serious problems with Data Springs Dynamic Registration Module, so I have this site ... I need to upgrade to 5.5... because I've tested it and it works...

So what would you do? :)

Ofc its an alpha but that does not mean some people will not use it some are actually FORCED to do it.

Whats important is how you do it... I have tested 5.5 on a local machine and it worked, so I'm backup the live site try it there and test all modules, I noticed that the Events module actually does not work... so I could always go back to the restore point!

And thank you  Roger for providing this update so quick, I hope the sable version is out soon but the latest RC was simply working great and MUCH MUCH better than the previous stable versions... that's funny too :P

Don't take this personal Chis, but I think your comment is very poor, every site is a different scenario, and some RC or Alpha versions simply have less bugs than a stable version!

That's why some people upgrade :)

Now I do know some people just do it without backing up things and just can't get back to where they were... that's ofc not a smart idea, or some just upgrade without needing too, also not a good idea!!!
