Hi we have set up several events with the "Reminder" option activated. The email is being sent and the email contains the details for the event including a link to a downloadable file (PDF) however the link in the email received url contains the LinkClick URL and the document is not available for download see email example below:

*** Example Starts ******

You requested notification for the following Event:

Regular City Council Meeting

on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 7:30 PM (UTC -06:00) Central Time (US & Canada)
to Tuesday, March 15, 2011 10:00 PM

*** Example Ends ******

The “Click here for an agenda” link contains a url like this: href="/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=gV2gDaGKKHs%3d&tabid=77" target="_blank"

·         How can we make the link to the file accessible from outside the main site?

·         Is there a way to create the links on the detail of the event without using the LinkClick object?

·         I tried un-checking the "track number of times......" option when creating the link but still creates the LInkClick object.

I will appreciate your insight.

Thank you

AG

HI AG,

Currently the module just outputs the Description as is, without manipulating any URLs. So what your are getting is what is being output by your editor, whether that by FCK Editor, RAD Editor or the older FTB Editor. In FCK Editor this is configurable on a per site or module basis, using the admin options at the bottom of the editor pane. Unfortunately in RAD Editor this is only configureable at the site level (you have to set an output filter in one of teh config files, or something like that), and what you want for HTML content on your site, may not be appropriate for content sent out in emails from the events modules.

Potentially we could add the function to correct any internal urls, so they are valid to a future release. If you would like to raise a request on CodePlex (link in my signature) we can look at it. I would consider this one as being close to a bug, so we may be able to get it into version 5.2.0, but I'd have to review that with the project lead (Ernst Peter) to agree on whether we can fit it in, in time.

Cheers
Roger

I agree with Roger: I would consider this a bug, or at least an undesired result of the particular text editor being used.

Since it is a bug, we will cover it in the next release, i.e. 05.02.00

This bug will be fixed in 5.2.0. I have checked in the fix - http://dnnevents.codeplex.com/workite... - it will complete the url for href and src links in the description text.
