I've been wanting to implement enrollment end dates for a while now (I currently remind myself to go in and set the enrollment role to a higher role than most users have when I want to turn enrollment off).  I was thinking that I'd provide the changes back to be released with the DNN Events module but I'm wondering a few things.

A couple of other people have already been looking for this feature, but is it something that more than 3 people would care about using?  http://dnnevents.codeplex.com/workitem/20340  Note: I only care to implement enrollment start and end dates, I don't use fee based enrollments.

If I wanted to submit the code back, what's the process?  Is it documented somewhere?  With Git you create a fork and a merge request.  I've done an anonymous svn checkout of the code so far, but I'm sure I wouldn't be able to commit changes.

Is a C# version planned at all?  I thought I had read a while back that it was a goal for the module teams to convert to bring them in line with the core, was I dreaming that?

Regards,
Chris Rock

Hi Chris,

Tnx for your interest. To answer some questions:

  • If you have any code suggestions, you can either enter it in an issue comment or mail it to me or Roger. We are more than happy to incorporate good code changes back into the Events module. Committing changes back into CodePlex requyires you to be assigned a role as Developer in the CodePlex project. If you really have good changes, we can accomodate that as well. If have tried to fork the code on CodePlex before, but had no success sofar (I use TFS),
  • As for C#: since most of the Events coding is done by Roger and he is very familiar with VB.net and not so much with C#, there are no direct plans to convert the solution to C#. For myself I do not mind which language is used, as long as the results are there.

If you have formed a small team to develop that change, feel free to bring the results back to the Events team, we will be more than happy to get work done (by others).
