Hello,

I am developing an intranet and plan on utilizing the Events module.

I have a question about if it can handle certain functionality:

We have 4 regions A, B, C, D

Each Region has its own web page (and an Events module on each page).

We need, from any one of the Event modules to be able to create an Event to any number of the regions.. e.g.)    A,B or A,C or A,B,C,D .

We also need, when you navigate to one of those pages, that the default category that is displayed is the region we are on.. So Region A, shows only Events that are assigned to Region A.

Is this kind of functionality supported by the Events module.

Thanks a lot for your help!
Rich

Suggestion:

  • Use the Event categories as Regions.
  • Have one master calendar (on a page only accessible as editor for that page) and use that as sub calendar in the 4 event (region) calendars on 4 different pages.
  • Enable filter on Categories for each of the 4 event calendars, filter on the category (region) you want to display on that page
  • Add/Delete/Modify event only in the master calendar.

Does this work for you?

Hi Ernst Peter,

That worked perfectly! Thank you for your help.

Is there any way that when creating an event, you can associate it with more than one region? Right now it looks like you have to create it over and over using "Copy as New Event", and changing the category each time.

Thank you very much again!
Rich

Ernst,
You missed this part:
"We need, from any one of the Event modules to be able to create an Event to any number of the regions.. e.g.) A,B or A,C or A,B,C,D ."
The InvenManager Events Calendar lets you assign multiple categories to an event, but I'm not seeing an option to display a calendar that is filtered on an individual category.

Hi Rich,

Sorry, the current version supports 1 category (Region) per event only.

We have a request list on CodePlex for the Events module and there s a request for that (http://dnnevents.codeplex.com/workite...).

If you add your vote, it gets higher on the list for new versions. We cannot promise any time schedule, we are all volunteers...
