Normally an event editor is set to be event owner. For moderated event, can he / she approve an enrollment that is awaiting approval? Where?

 I know that event owner is able to add registered user to an event straightway, but couldn't find a way to approve an enrollment, which I think is a logical feature to an event owner.

You have to enable approval for events (setting) and set approval for individual events (per event) if you want an approval cycle for. 

If that is enabled, there will be an option in the menu for events and enrollments. 

There is a separate permission setting to assign approval rights in addition to the normal admin options, if youy want someone to have the right for approval but being an admin.

I suppose you are referring to permission matrix in the Module setting.

I am looking for a role that plays as an events editor only, members of which are able to approve a moderated enrollment, without giving the role "moderate events" rights. Is it possible?

Ror,

You might need to create a separate calendars with the permissions you need and include them in a main calendar as SubCalendars.
