Update - I now get about 1 of these errors a day (I used to get a lot an hour) - and I noticed that they all have been IE6 so far. Don't know if that helps..

where are you moving it to Rodney - we can move it to the first line of the forms block easily enough, but moving outside the form would take some additional research and testing. Incidentally, the "real" fix should be made in the clientAPI by adding some defensive coding to check for null references. I assume someone has added this as an issue on the clientapi issue tracker (http://dnnclientapi.codeplex.com/)?

Cathal - to be honest, I am technically unaware of the exact problem or solution - John (PageBlaster) - sent me a new rule to move that variable to the top of the form which seems to have helped the problem - I am still getting the odd error but it seems to only be on IE6 now (one per day or so instead of 100 a day).

If I look at the source of PokerDIY homepage - it looks like the DNNVariable is definied just under the Form tag.

It needs to be as close to the top of the form as possible.

The PageBlaster rule is moving all hidden input fields up to before the ViewState.

I agree that defensive error detection should also be added, but if the inputs are at the top then there is a better chance of it working correctly.

I've moved the variable in default.aspx, and will see if Jon can add some defensive code for the clientAPI- thanks for the work in tracking down the issue.
