Cathal just brought this to my attention.  I should have a fix posted on codeplex sometime this week.  I'll post back here when its up.

Please grab the latest webcontrols and give it a try.  Make a backup before installing!  The wizard can be used.  Very limited testing was done on this release.  Send me an email with any issues.

FYI I've had to revert the code back to the original in the core as it was breaking a number of other functions (I dont know why moving it up 3 lines was so fragile). However, as Jon's changes are the correct one, we'll include his updated webcontrols library in 5.2.3 . We would appreciate if people can confirm if it resolves this issue for them.

I'll give it a go but my installation is not vanilla - it uses PageBlaster with the fix John suggested (ie. moving the DNN var to the top).

I'm going to have to test this on my live site - is it just the 2.dlls and the js directory that I need to undo in case I need to rollback?
