Is it possible to migrate a DNN 4.9.2 portal and all of its content to DNN 5.3 easily?  Are there tools for this?  If we cannot migrate the look and feel of the portal is it possible to migrate the content of the modules?  Maybe doing a database export/import from 4.9.2 to 5.3 for the modules?  Any help would be appreciated.

You may be able to use the import/export features of DNN, though I'm not positive an export from DNN 4.9.2 would import file in DNN 5.3, it would potentially depend on the modules in use as well.

Are you not able to upgrade that existing portal to 5.3?

Wow. I did not even think about upgrading the existing 4.9.2 site to 5.3. Duh. We just installed 5.3 to play with it to see if we wanted to go that route. Although I am a bit leery with trying to upgrade the production site. I will probably copy the 4.9.2 site and then try to upgrade that. Thanks for the help! Robert Wiseman rwiseman@memorialsb.org

I would definitely recommend that you test the upgrade first! Pull it down locally and test it out, then you can decide if you want to upgrade production, or push the upgraded instance out over production.

Always test it first, and always back things up before you upgrade! Just in case.

Check out my blog post on upgrades first too, hopefully it will make it easier on you

please be aware, that DNN 5.3.0 has been withdrawn, please wait for DNN 5.3.1, which has been announced to be available early next week.
