We have a DNN site that we would like to upgrade from 5.1 to 5.4 Professional edition.  I would like to know a rule of thumb on how many hours it should take a DNN agency to perform this upgrade.  What are the key drivers of the agency ours - is it the size of the site in # pages, paying for experienced person to do it, or what?  I want to make sure that the hours charged are reasonable given the task (if it typically only takes 5 hours, I don't want to pay for 100 hours).

Also, if I have several DNN portals installed on separate DNN instances, and I would like to consolidate these into one portal.  What are the advantages of having all portals on the same install?  Would it be best to upgrade the main site to the 5.4 Pro first, then consolidate portals?  And, given that the other sites are quite small (campaign micro sites), how many hours should it take someone who knows what they are doing?

1. Upgrade depends on the number of 3rd party extensions installed and existing issues in the current installation, also a bit on the number of versions between current and desired version. An upgrade of a default installation should be done within 1-2 hours including backup, if the consultant knows the site, otherwise he needs to get familiar with the setup and specifics first and might consider upgrading a copy of the site to minimize risk and downtime. If you have no significant issues with your current installation, I'd wait for DNN 5.4.2 or 5.4.3, which will have fixed a number of issues in current version.
