I cannot edit any content in the text/html module after upgrading to DNN 5.44 from 4.95;  All other functions in DNN appear to be working.   In the web.config I changed the text/html provider to the Telerik control.  In the EVENT LOG, I get this error message any time I try to edit content of a text/html module:

I noticed there are about 10 unresolved posts in the DNN forums with this issue, and many relate to upgrading to DNN 5.x.x. from 4.x.x.  Might be good to know another approach even though at the bottom of this email there is a workaround (for me).
  1. Stopped IIS
  2. Backed up my SQL Database
  3. Made copy of Application 494_DomainName folder called 544_DomainName
  4. Installed the DNN 5.4.4. upgrade package over the existing application in the new 544_DomainName folder
  5. Changed IIS settings to point to new application folder
  6. Started IIS application, browsed to this new application folder
  7. Installation occurred (did not recall any errors)
So yes, it definitely restarted IIS application.  This problem only impacted clicking the "edit content" link on any modules implementing the HTML provider.... It would throw a pair of errors including the error above, and a visibility error.

Workaround: I reverted back to earlier DNN version 4.9.4;   I upgraded to 4.9.5 in which it performed that HTML provided change.  Then, I upgraded to 5.4.4 and haven't had any problems at all.  My theory is you cannot go from 4.9.4. to 5.4.4. without first going to 4.9.5.     I also noticed there are no earlier versions available for download if others need to take a similar step.  Could be frustrating?

Thanks Sebastian in advance,
Jon
