Hello All,

My hosting provider recently got a new server and installed SQL2008 without and instance.  Now evertime I try to upgrade extensions and DNN I get an error

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection)at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.ThrowExceptionAndWarning(TdsParserStateObject stateObj)

Is there anyway around this?

THanx

Double check your web.config to make sure both of the connection strings are setup properly, there are two, they should both use the same connection information.

The connection string looks correct, please contact your hosting provider to validate his configuration.

Hi,

What sort of config questions do I need to ask them?  And you are positive that this has nothing to do with the fact that there is no instance configred on the SQL server?

Regard's

Rhys
