Just a quick note, using the 5.5.1 upgrade package causes an error from 5.2.3.  The culprit is the Telerik.Web.UI.dll changes versions.  Make sure that you're using the Install package.  I fixed the issue by downloading the install package and copying the newer Telerik.Web.UI.dll to the bin directory.  You may also want to add update your web.config bindingRedirect entry to the correct version.
<bindingRedirect oldVersion="2007.1.1.20-2011.4.2000.20" newVersion="2010.2.713.35" />

Cheers!
