Finally I have upgraded my site from 5.5.0 step by step as described in Wiki, everything as it was said there, and upgrades went well, no errors no red colors, everything nice green and sucess... after trying to reach my newly upgraded site ( it was veeeeeery slow) finally got to login page tried to login it took forever and then error

Sad and strange I did every ( every word every letter) as in wiki, all went smooth no errors and now this... out of nowhere.. I am lost

hmm the first page shower up and it took me 4 minutes to get to login page and then to try to log in and get this error ( about 1miin. to see first page 40 sec. to get login page and the rest before getting the error )

if I put in wrong username or password it would reply in about 30sec. with "incorrect password" but if I fill in correct the request is timedout.... pretty much I can't login now at all... ( it is bad that I canot edit my forum posts so I have to wait and see what's going on and post it all at once) and all is sooooooo slow impossible 1minute to browse to another tab.... oh went to another domain (portal on the same install ) and I am logged already as a host, clicked on a tab.... still waiting for it to open...

and many many more entries I don't know if there's repeating or different pretty much I don't know what it means... :( after the upgrade ( wich was on 30/11/2010 ) there's probably 100-150 General or page load exeptions... so frustrating... to be hosent wantedt o upgrade to make things better and work faster but so far I am just wasting my and other people's time ( like your's Sebastian ...) ...sigh :( |

Usually timeout and extremely bad performance issues point to database problems most often a database transaction log that has grown very large (either suddenly or through database backups being made very infrequently) or DotNetNuke EventLog or SiteLog tables that have many hundreds or thousands of rows. If the site is on shared hosting, many budget hosts will overload their SQL servers with far too many databases. For one site I have on shared hosting (won't mention host by name), when I initially set up the site 3 years ago, mine was one of about 100 databases on the server. The other day when I directly accessed the database in preparation for a DNN upgrade I roughly estimated there were now over 7000 databases on the server with a very noticable decline in performance.
