I recently started a project with dnn 5.5, and now decided to upgrade before I got to far. After the upgrade the site would not work...big long error message with 'return to site'. I restarted the app, by restarting IIS and killing the ASP.NET process. I tried the site again and got an installation wizard screen like when I first did a the new install. I thought maybe this was normal for an upgrade so I click next until I got to the "Run database Installation Scripts' page, and it has been there for 10+ minutes having 'Undefined....Success'. Before this ungrade my database.mdf file was 9,408 KB...it is now 42,176 KB and climbing.

Pretty sure this is bad

there is an issue in your upgrade execution, I strongly suggest restoring previous backup of files and database, which you should keep in shape before retrying the upgrade, see my latest blog post at http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Blogs/tabid/825/EntryId/2903/DotNetNuke-Database-Performance-Tips.aspx. Re-unzip all files, make sure, the asp.net account has full permission for the DNN folder and all subfolders and re-run the upgrade.

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold
