We are using an older version of DNN (4.6.something) and need to upgrade to the latest version. According to the DNN Wiki, we can't simply hit the "upgrade" button, but need to start with a DNN Install. See here: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/W...

My question is, if we are doing an install instead of an upgrade, does Google "see" that as a new website? Will it affect our current Google rankings? Do we need to have Google crawl the site once we've done the upgrade? Anything else I should know?

Just want to make sure on this issue before we do anything. TIA for any help.

DDALG;
Reading through the instructions you linked to I see that they describe manual upgrade steps.
Your data, content and especially, your site URL's, should not be changing if you run with those steps.
