I'm doing some due diligence on upgrading a fairly old site.  I tried upgrading the production site, which is on SSL, to 5.02 at one point and it didn't fly.

The most recent version now is 5.6.2.  I'm sure the straight up upgrade will work fine but just in case there is a gotcha or 2 coming from 4.9, I'd like to know.

I know this is a somewhat general/vague question, it isn't like I've hit a brick wallk, I just know that can happen so I'd like to get as much info ahead of time as possible.

DNN internally does the data upgrade version by version and across the course of these upgrades the core internal system requirements also changed - meaning that 5.6.2 demands asp.net 3.5sp1 and MS SQL 2005 at a minimum with 2008 preferred.

I would suggest u walk up in a couple of steps:
 -  4.9.x to 4.9.5 first
 - THEN you should be able to jump to 5.4.4
 - then 5.5.1
 - then 5.6.2

These stage correspond to the points where major structural changes or system requirements occurred.
