@Sebastian, I can select Standard, Ribbon or Icon via GUI
It is just with ribbon bar, the Admin and Host words are there but they are non-clickable links and they don't expand (drop down menu)

The icon bar works.

this sounds like either an upgrade or skinning issue - in the second case you might safely use free advanced control Panel from www.oliverhine.com instead.

Cheers from Germany,

Oliver Hine's module is by far not the solution they (we) are all looking for Sebastian. In fact, there is a problem here that is underlining and here is the fix:

You guys need to back your current DNN database first!

Go into the table called HostSettings

Look for the field called: ControlPanel, and change it from: Admin/ControlPanel/RibbonBar.ascx
To - Admin/ControlPanel/IconBar.ascx

This will allow us to then access the admin/host menuts if you need them.

Now to correct the issues:
1. Copy the following folders from either the install or upgrade zips for DNN 6.1.x
/admin/menus/*.* to the same locations (overwriting) on the upgraded DNN installation.

You will notice that there are several files under each that are missing...

2. Open the following Table in the database called Tabs, look for the fields for both Host and Admin, (you will see multiple entries for Admin if there are more than one portal). Set the IsVisible to True (it is currently False) and DisableLink to False (it is True). Once you have done this. last step.

3. Now clear the cache from the Host Settings and then restart application.

You can now enjoy the new DNN 6.1 mega menu controls and have a 100% working DotNetNuke 6.1.x upgraded site. Any questions feel free to contact us.

James, thank you so much for this post. Although I tried to tell Sebastion that this was not a skin problem - unless the DNN supplied skins were defective ... and reinstalling 7 times did nothing ...
I found no files missing in step 1. So proceeded to step 2 and 3. voila, the menu now works. One slight hitch is that about half the icons in host and admin don't show, but the menus are fully functional.
I will retry clearing cache, restarting and then troubleshoot the missing icons.
Again, thank you James and if you have any insight to missing icons, please let me know.

Great post, James!

I just upgraded a 5.6.1 site to 6.2 and this restored my access to the Host menu/link.
