This is more of a question then a problem.

I upgraded to DNN 6 and all and all it has been a very good experience.

Here is the big question!

Do you Pre-Release your versions to the Module developers so they have a jump on creating the new modules for DNN version upgrades.

Because I have been through a few versions since 2004 actually and it seems we are not doing that.

At this time there is only a small handful of people with updates.

I say this because I am waiting on updates for one module I really don't wish to get rid of.

currently some of the features of a key module does not work but I have a work around for it.

If not for the ability for the work around I would of had to role back the upgrade and wait for the newer version.

Many major releases of dnn have been released in beta to the entire community.

dnn600 even went as far as to release a number of pre beta - community previews - along with 3 beta's and a couple of release candidates for this latest release.

In addition, the very latest bleeding edge version of dnn can be downloaded daily from http://dotnetnuke.codeplex.com/Source... as a source code build for those with an obsessive need to know whats going on - lol

Thank you for the wonderful and most informative info.

My reviews of modules will reflect the ability of the developer to keep up to date.

in addition to all of the above, a number of the larger module vendors are members of the "developer advisory group" -they have a dedicated forum that allows them to talk directly to the developer team, and they get early access to various releases i.e. we have in the past provided very early code (pre-alpha in case) so that the vendors can test their modules and get a start on any prospective enhancements (e.g. with 6.0 due to the new form patterns changes we wanted to encourage vendors to consider these changes so provided a document detailing as well as early access). The core project teams also have similar access obviously and they're extremely responsive (note that 11 core projects were updated in time for packaging with 6 - http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Downloads/Projects-Downloads.aspx )
