I posted in another thread about a site we have that is throwing an error when I attempt to modify content in the HTML editor on any page. This started when an update to DotNetNuke didn't go well. We rolled it back but apparently a few items didn't update or roll back. The basic viewing portion of the site seems to work OK. I backed the site as it stands up onto my personal computer. My thought is that I can do a clean install of DNN 5.6.3 on this machine and then install our skins, files, and modules in the new installation.

My question is would it then be possible to move over our web.config file from the existing site and redirect to a backup of the database from the current site that I put on my development machine so that we have our portal and page information in the new site? This question may be confusing, but my basic thought is get our site design out of the broken site and put it into a clean installation of the same version we are supposed to be running.

no, its not possible as the were be data integrity issues. What you could try is to export your current portal as a portal template (check the include data option) and use it as the basis of the new site - http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Wiki/Page/Portal-templates.aspx
