Upgraded our Dev site ok but our matching test site throws an unhandled exception error. Nothing logged in the server's event log, site is just dead....Restoring to 6.01 from backup works!...

When you say nothing is in the servers event log, are you checking the Event Log table in the DNN database? I have had some similar issues but usually got some clues from what was in the DNN Event Log table.

I also had an error trying to upgrade a site to DNN 6.0.2. Here is the stack trace:
