I am trying to figure out why, with the recent release of DNN 6.1, that all of my 5.6.3 and 6.0.2 DNN instances show "Critical Updates Available"? Any ideas? I have scoured teh DNN site looking for anything that indicates that "Critical Security" fixes have been made, but only find Low or Medium issues as of 11/1/11, nothing flagged as Ciritcal.

Is the presence of "Critical Updates Available" to the Host account something triggered by even Medium security fixes?

"critical updates available" means that the latest upgrade should fix some existing security issues in your version. Please check out http://www.dotnetnuke.com/News/Security-Policy.aspx and http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Blogs/EntryId/3215/Security-bulletins-released-ndash-5-6-4-6-1-0.aspx

One of the things this patch does is strip all scripts out of HTML - this is something that well seriously breaks many sites.

But it is regarded as potentially a pretty severe security hole - depending on who you let have access to your HTML editor.
