Problem: After upgrade to DNN 6.1.1, login redirects to home page (HTTP 302 Found) before the user can log in.

To observe this behavior:

  1. Navigating to http://www.realmadvertising.com/Login...
  2. The page redirects back to the home page (http://www.realmadvertising.com).
    1. Chrome Dev Tools shows the login.aspx is returning "HTTP 302 Found" immediately before redirecting to the home page.
    2. There are no related errors in the DNN Event Log.
    3. The only way I can log in right now is to go http://www.realmadvertising.com/Defau...

Second way to observe the behavior:

  1. Navigate to http://www.realmadvertising.com or any page in that site.
  2. Click on the "login" link at the bottom of the page.
  3. The login popup appears with the site's home page inside the login popup.

About the server:

  • Upgraded from DNN 5.4.4 to 6.1.1 (no errors during upgrade).
  • Added .Net 4 Framework
  • Upgraded the site skin using DarkKnight skin as reference.
  • Ran Peter Taminga's optimization SQL scripts.
  • Server is Win 2003, IIS 6.
  • There are no URL re-writer modules installed.
  • There is only one portal.

Thanks,
Robert Blaske

Solved it myself.  Earlier I had created a Login page and then deleted it in favor of the new DNN6 popup login box. Well, the record was still in the database and marked as "IsDeleted" which must instruct DNN to throw a HTTP 302 when its URL is accessed. Solution was to go into Admin --> Recycle Bin --> Pages and permanently delete the Login page. I also went into Admin --> Recycle Bin --> Modules and deleted the Login module too.
