Mr. Craig,

Your technique helped me get past the errors involving the App_Browsers folder; but now I'm on to a different upgrade halting point. I've given details in my reply to Mr. Connolly.

Thank you for the help!

The next one seems simpler. It looks like a permissions error.

Joe,

Could be. My DNN sites are installed on a shared hosting server, so I have limited ability to change permissions of individual files. It does appear, however, that the permissions for the folders are adequate. I'm at a loss, regardless.

Joe is correct -it is a permissions problem (the "Access to the path 'MYWEBSITE\Portals\_default\04.09.00.config' is denied." is the telling part) .This suggests that the website user has no permissions -or at least missing permissions on the folders. Typically you apply MODIFY permissions for your user from the root folder on down

This user is typically something such as. networkservice/appool identity (see http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/W... for more IIS/OS specific details)

However if you're using a hosting panel (e.g. if your hosting provider has provided one) such as plesk/cpanel) you'll have to check how to apply the necessary permissions possibily with your hosting provider
