I am trying to upgrade from Version 05.05.00 to Version 06.01.05 on a Windows 2003 server using SQL Server 2008. The host login and password work for the old version, but when I try the upgrade the login does not work. 

I have copied into the new  web.config the connection strings. 

Any suggestions?

Oops, I was copying the files out of the Install folder instead of the Upgrade folder. Now progress is being made except for the 'File not found error'

please make sure to use upgrade package for Community Edition.
