Oh, Rick! Sorry to see that no one posted before now! I remember you encountering an issue a while back after upgrades, but I don't remember the particulars.

Myself, I ran across this thread because after doing an upgrade from a DNN 4.9 up to 6.x the core Events module that was still in use on that DNN instance stopped working. I saw the error message:

Error: Events Calendar is currently unavailable. DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: The file '/DesktopModules/EventsCalendar/View.ascx' does not exist. ---> System.Web.HttpException: The file '/DesktopModules/EventsCalendar/View.ascx' does not exist. at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultInternal(VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile, Boolean throwIfNotFound, Boolean ensureIsUpToDate) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultWithNoAssert(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile, Boolean throwIfNotFound, Boolean ensureIsUpToDate) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResult(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile, Boolean ensureIsUpToDate) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(VirtualPath virtualPath) at DotNetNuke.UI.Modules.WebFormsModuleControlFactory.CreateModuleControl(TemplateControl containerControl, ModuleInfo moduleConfiguration) at DotNetNuke.UI.Modules.ModuleControlFactory.LoadModuleControl(TemplateControl containerControl, ModuleInfo moduleConfiguration) at DotNetNuke.UI.Modules.ModuleHost.LoadModuleControl() --- End of inner exception stack trace -

During the upgrade process, we updated the old Events module from version 4x to the latest/current version 6.0.4

Looking at the specifics, though, I realized that I was confusing items for a few minutes... that one portal on this old DNN instance was using the core Events module... it needed an update from the old to the new

But the "EventsCalendar" folder name on the page looking for a file in the /DesktopModules/EventsCalendar/ location made me realize that a different portal was using the InvenManager Event & Registration Calendar. I recall in the upgrade process, deleting the unused satellite modules of it but found that the main Event Calendar module was not present/visible in the modules list after upgrades were complete. Doing upgrades/reinstalls for the base CustomProperties, Settings helper modules and reinstalling a newer EventsCalendar module has cleared up the issues.
