Hey all

Maybe I've got a burr in my saddle, but sheesh. ;) Here's the problem. I'm uploading the upgrade files to a remote host. So, I download the latest upgrade zip. Then I unzip it to my local drive. Then I FTP the files to the remote host. Then I perform the upgrade. Never mind that there's not guarantee it will work.

I know, just am positive that there are files in the upgrade zip that are identical to those already on the remote site. I might be able to trust to file size, but even 1 byte might have changed, so the file needs to be replaced. Of course, I can wish that only that 1 byte were downloaded and altered on the server. I mean we do have diffs in subversion, tfs etc. As you may know, from the average home internet connection, uploads are slower. I do not have a console on the remote site where I can unzip and so on. I asked for that feature.

Can I get the files in the upgrade zip  in a different manner? I'm imagining something that knows what files I have now and only gives me those which are truly different.

Thanks

A Merge function is not practiable, due the different versions the customers have installed and whant upgrade from.  The upgrade package is smaller as the install package and included only all changes that is needed to upgrade from any older version.
