Looking for some insite from those that know on this one.

During the update of one of our sites the 07.00.00.SqlDataProvider  faile with the following error:

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'PortalID', table 'loyaltepays.dbo.ModulePermission'; column does not allow nulls. UPDATE fails.

ALTER TABLE dbo.ModulePermission
ALTER COLUMN PortalID int NOT NULL

The modulePermissions table is trying to be updated to include the PortalID - it does this partly by doing a join on the module table to look for the current portalid of the associated module.

It takes the following steps

ADD PortalID with ALLOW NULLS
GET portalID from Module table for all records
UPDATE PortalID to NO NULLS

However on the system in question - the PortalID of module (file manager in this case) it is trying to link to is NULL  and as a result the update to NO NULLS fails.

SO question is - WOULD it be ok to either DELETE the modulePermissions record that is the culprit or edit the module table and force in the portalid.

Im assume the reason the record is NULL is that the module in question was for some reason moved from the HOST Menu or some such - its one of those very old legacy sites thats been updated since forever.

Any thoughts ???

Westa

We (team members) are Humans offering their knowledge, their work and their spare time FOR FREE to benefit the community. It would be so particularly appreciated that your messages begin with "Hello" and end with "Thank you" or any other form of politeness. Ask yourself what your reaction would be, if you were approached by me (a total stranger) on the street to ask you something without saying "Hello" nor "Thank you"? After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.
