Hi,

I'm trying to update a DNN installation from 6.1.5 to 7.1.2. I followed the upgrade path discussed in the wiki and checked that I have the minimum requirements.

I went from 6.1.5 to 6.1.8 which went smoothly exept for a couple of errors that seem to have no effect on any existing functionality.

 The errors were the following:

00:00:02.676 -   Installing Package File HTML_Community_05.04.03_Install:  Error!
00:00:02.835 -   Installing Package File Messaging_01.01.00_Install:  Error!
00:00:02.890 -   Installing Package File Taxonomy_01.01.00_Install:  Error!

00:00:04.899 -   Installing Package File CoreSitemapProvider_5.2.0.0_Install:  Error!

All other entries in the status Report showed Success. When checking out the site everything seems to work fine.

I then upgraded to 6.1.9 > same issues but upgrade went smooth otherwise, site working fine.

Now when I want to upgrade to 7.1.1 or 7.1.2 during the install process, the visual feedback is different from the previous installs. This time I also get the HTML_Community_05.04.03_Install Error but this time the upgrade process hangs at this point and does not continue like in other versions, it just keeps sitting there at 78%. I assume its the same issue that will probably again have no breaking effect on the installation.

I found this thread with a similar problem: http://www.dnnsoftware.com/forums/forumid/-1/postid/376038/scope/posts but the EventConfig file talked about here seems, fine and deleting it and having it regenerated does not solve my issue.

Any ideas or tips on how to resolve this or where to search next?

Remove the HTML 5.4.3 package and leave only the HML package of the upgradepacke on it. Do so also with other modules and Providers, so on the install Folder you have always only the current wersions.

After failing a upgrade restore files and database from your backup and start from scratch!

Thanks a lot Matthias!

That did the trick. Seems like they were some leftover files from a previous upgrade with issues on those modules.
