AFAIR this is a known bug, I am not sure, whether it has been fixed on DNN 7.3 yet
you may workaround by creating a custom registration form, see registration settings in Admin > SiteSettings, 3rd tab

Hi again Sebastian,
I've now tried setting up a custom register page by dropping the Users and Roles module onto a new page but still the optional profile fields don't show.

And still - (since 6.1 that I know of) the CAPTCHA resets itself each time the country selection box is changed which confuses users
And the country selection box ignores a default value
and now - new bugs -
And the Address 1 label doesn't show.
And when I re-enter the password correctly there is a flyout with NULL when hovering over the repeat password field.

So just a few problems.... Are these all raised as bugs do you know? This is just from spending an hour trying to set up a custom form ! But obviously I cant upgrade to 7 until people can register .....
