Hello,

We've upgraded a site to DNN 7.3.1, and now the site registration doesn't work. More specifically, the confirm password box shows null when hovering over after filling it out, and the registration won't process, it stays on the same page. This issue has been tracked here

 https://dnntracker.atlassian.net/browse/DNN-5560

But it was a duplicate of another now inaccessible thread, and it was closed, and I have no idea if there is a solution to this. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Istvan-Zoltan,

first question: from which version did you upgrade?

second question: Is there anything in the event log to get a detailled error message?

Happy DNNing!

I upgraded from 6.2.2, nothing in the event log about it when I press the register button. Apparently this was a registered bug, but it was closed, don't know why.

Istvan-Zoltan,

Did you upgrade directly or did you follow the suggested upgrade path?

When there is nothing in the event log it could be a client-side (browser) problem. Did you try another browser, did it work there?

Are you using a third-party skin? If yes, does it work with a standard skin?

Next thing I would try is upgrading all used extensions (modules, skins, ...) with the upgrade of DNN. This can be done easily by copying the install packages to the corresponding folders in the /install folder (modules, skins,...) before starting the upgrade process.

If this does not help, I would start uninstalling all third party extensions before the upgrade, and then re-install them after the upgrade, check if the registration works and find out which extension is causing the issue. Then try to get an upgrade for this extension(s) before upgrading DNN.

All of this has to be done in a testing environment and not on your production site - it requires a lot of backups and restores, but it's worth the effort.

Happy DNNing!
Michael

Found a solution, or rather a workaround. For the registration page, I had the wrong module on the page. It was the Users and Roles module, and it was supposed to be the new Registration module. Changed it, and now users can register. I realized this when I saw that the button says Add New User even when logged out. Thanks Michael for your efforts in trying to help me, fortunately I don't have to restart the whole upgrade process.
