We recently upgraded a site  from 7.0.0.4  to 7.3.2 and found significant issues with the Telerik editor and IE 11.

We also tried a clean install and the demo version of EVOQ and all had the same problems in IE11.  The main problems I have encountered so far are

1) Cannot insert an image through the Rich Text Editor  - After selecting the image from the image Manager and  pressing Insert nothing happens !

2) Cannot paste text from Word or the clipboard - after selecting the option paste again nothing happens !

I know 7.3.3 has just been released but looking at the issue logs there are still significant issues with the Telerik Editor and IE11 .

Not sure a version should  be released with such fundamental issues, the HTML module is  the cornerstone of the CMS and I would assume the most heavily used module in DNN.  Surely there is some basic testing done against the latest version of all major browsers before it is considered fit for release ?

Frankly I would think any new users trialing  DNN with IE11 are going to give up pretty quickly once they play with the HTML module.

I could understand that basic testing *might* not include full scale 'fiddling with images.

The release feedback has this [1] so the issue has been known since August - I admit I didn't know about it until I saw your post.

it's a known issue caused by IE11 dropping support for a number of pieces of javascript used in by telerik (https://dnntracker.atlassian.net/brow...) - we plan on working on a fix for this in the next release, but the easy work around is to use any other browser except IE11

thanks for the response Richard I was interested by your comment

I could understand that basic testing *might* not include full scale 'fiddling with images.

I would have thought that inserting an image through the default editor provided was a pretty basic requirement for a user of a cms - along with inserting some text. Certainly our users expect to add images to the CMS on a regular basis. Certainly we could not consider upgrading using the Telerik Editor in its current state.

The fact it was a known issue in 7.3.2 that does not appear to have been addressed in 7.3.3 is quite worrying. If the official line at the moment is use another browser then that needs to be clearly communicated to the users somehow. As I said if someone new to DNN trials the latest version in IE11 and uses the HTML Editor they are not going to have a good experience which will reflect badly on the product.

John,

I would suggest to use CK Editor instead: https://dnnckeditor.codeplex.com/

Happy DNNing!

Yep thanks Michael - it seems to work better with IE11 though I have had some styling issues with it.

Perhaps DNN should make it the default editor again.
