In our test server, when we perform the upgrade (by navigating to the upgrade url) we dont get a page printing which scripts are being run and which one success , and in our logs we see the sql scripts being run successfully, but when it start with the application updates it only prints starting. This is only on logs. on the actual site the upgrade page stays blank and loading, and at some point we get "no data received" later it stops, and it seems like the upgrade finishes, but it feels like the upgrade stopped at some point and we have no idea where.

what causes the upgrade page to not show up?

yes, as I said before in our local computers the upgrade works as it should. Its only when we try the upgrade in our test server environment
/install/install.aspx?mode=upgrade

this is one of our test server specs:

Windows Server 2012 Standard 64 Bit
Intel Xeon CPU 3.30 Ghz (2 Virtual Processors)
8.00 GB Memory
HD1 80 GB
HD2 260 GB
IIS 8.0

We are thinking it might be something with IIS, or some timeout. But any suggestion is welcome.

Luis,
You indicate a test server.
Did you remember to update the web.config to use the correct database?
(I ran into this when I last upgraded...made a copy and upgraded the copy without changing the DB connection string, so I partially updated the production site by mistake.)

yes we did. The site works before doing the upgrade on the test server. The issue happens when we do the upgrade. we are still trying to figure out what is causing this.
