Hello there,

I want to upgrade my dnn local development evironment from 5.1.4 to 7.2.2 with the dnn source.

To start i upgraded the website and the db to 7.2.2 with success.

But when i add the dnn source and run the solution in Visual Studio its always ask me for a new install (Globals.Status is set to Install).

What am i doing wrong ? Can this not be done ?

Maxime,

I have no idea if you can upgrade the source version. The only point I can imagine why it does not work is that you overwrite the existing web.config file when unzipping the new version. The upgrade package provided is the same as the new install package without this file, so you better try to remove it before unzipping everything to your DNN folder.

Anyway: Why are you using the source version? You do not really need that until you want to fix some bugs - and hopefully provide the fixes back to the core. GitHub is the tool of choice for doing so.

If you "only" are developing extensions, you better take the install version (which can be upgraded). When upgrading such large steps, you should follow the suggested upgrade path.

Happy DNNing!
Michael

please be aware that you cannot compile DNN website in VS (it is a website projecte), only the library and other projects.

Thank you for your reply.
I solved my problem, it was the web.config (overwrited).

PS : I need sources because I like to know how all works.

Have a nice day.
