I am using this as a backup on my local PC first before do it on live site. Yes, I am restarting App Pool after upgrading. But nothing happned.

I have applied Turbo scripts too. So I am unstalling with Unchema script before upgrading. Can be an issue of Turbo script?

Can I run the latest Turbo script before upgrading?

I can see it is keep redirecting or something. may be a URL issuee or something. Just keep loading and not loading the site.

Confused.

Please help. Thank you for your advises.

And not sure if this is right for your previous suggestion. I just installed a clean DNN 7.4.2 version and copied the web.config and placed it for the upraded web.config.
changed the database connection.

It is still same and it keeps loading the site. Not loading the website anyway.

Please advise.

The site is based on Activeforums module for a forum page. There are the only home page and then the forum page for the site with a few other 2-3 simple pages.

I could see the database is ~ 2.5 GB and I shrink the database. So It came down to 1.6GB
Is this too big? I am using a forum on this site and it is much active from 2 years now.

The users were complaining and were saying the site is too slow and getting much much slower from day by day. What could be the solution? I am using Turbo Scripts too.

And I checked the number of records on all tables via an SQL. Activeforums tables have more records since this is a forum website. But the max number of records are ~60 000.

But I can see Journal_security table have ~220000 records. Is this normal? All other tables are fine.

In between, My problem is once I upgrade the site from DNN 7.4.1 to DNN 7.4.2 or a later version, then the site is not loading back. Please, can you advise how to fix this?

I really appreciate if you can advise me for this. Struggling and wasting days for this and finding how to upgrade without issues. Anyway, I can not use Install wizard and it is also not going more than 0%. So I am using /install/install.aspx?mode=upgrade as per your suggestion. It says upgraded without any errors. But Then can not load the site.

Please, help.

Thanks!

Y Ma,
I am having one client running Active Forums 6.3 on DNN 7.4.2 and didn't encounter issues during upgrade.
Largest table (using SSMS report Disk Usage by Top Tables) is ActiveForumsContent with 37 MB (11 000 entries), second largest is user profile.
Journal Security has around 5 000 entries, while Journal table has 1 100 rows, please check the number of Journal items in your database, security should around 4 times this number.
Please check size of Eventlog, Exceptions, SiteLog and schedule history tables and truncate, if possible. You may also empty old SearchItem, SearchWord, SearchItemWord and SearchItemWordPosition tables, but this should have been performed already by my TurboDNN script.
How many users do you have in your installation and how may ActiveForumContentitems?

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold

Hello Sebastian, Thank you very much for getting back me with a reply. You have helped me a lot in the past and this time too. Thanks for this.

First of all, I can not upgrade 7.4.1 to 7.4.2 version as I mentioned in a previous reply. The site is too slow (mean extremely slow for forum threads and replying posts).
If I upgrade to the 7.4.2 version, it says upgraded. But not loading the site at all then and gives timeout error finally.

It might work 6.3 AF with 7.4.2 DNN. But I installed on this 7.4.1 and it failed. The site went off with null reference error.

These are the counts for the records.
[dbo].[activeforums_Content] - 67688
[dbo].[activeforums_Replies] - 66535
[dbo].[activeforums_Topics_Tracking] - 15156

[dbo].[CoreMessaging_MessageRecipients] - 15937
[dbo].[CoreMessaging_Messages] - 8584

[dbo].[UserProfile] - 4168
[dbo].[Journal_Security] - 287709 (This is the largest one for me in this database. max number of rows)
[dbo].[Journal] - 45793

Already truncated these tables.
[dbo].[EventLog] - 136
[dbo].[Exceptions] - 67
[dbo].[SiteLog] - 0
[dbo].[ScheduleHistory] - 77

It seems no issues with search items too.
[dbo].[SearchCommonWords] - 369
[dbo].[SearchDeletedItems] - 61
[dbo].[SearchIndexer] - 0
[dbo].[SearchStopWords] - 1
[dbo].[SearchTypes] - 3

Only 136 users are on this site.
Normally max 10 users are on the site in the same time or less than that.

I really appreciate if you can help me for this. I just made under construction message and paused the site until I fix this issue. The users were complaining about the performance of the site.
I need to fix this issues and upgrade to DNN 8 or 9 with new module versions and the site performance to be good.

Please help me. Thanks a lot. I believe you can help me with your expertise knowledge.
I can send you the site info and login details to see the codes if it helps to find this error.

Thanks again.
