Hi , I recently upgraded to DNN 8.0.4 Just last week, the notification. "Critical Update" began showing up on my site. I just want to learn more about how critical it is that I upgrade soon, and what changes I can expect in DNN 9. Where would I get more info about this.

the issue is really critical if you have public, verified or private registration on your portal and use the default registration module. If you use a third party module for that you have to contact the vendor to clarify it your portal is affected or not. If you have no registration (which means that a new user can only be added by a site or host administrator) you are not affected afaik.

The good news is: If you don't upgrade (because you don't want, have issues with some modules or skins or have not tested enough) there is a security patch that fixes the issue from DNN 6.2 and later. Just download and install it as you would do with any module.

DNN 9 still misses some things in the administration UI (i.e. Persona Bar) that seem important to me, but might not be relevant for you.
