Upgraded local installation of DNN from 7 to 9.0.2.  No errors noted during installation.  All site pages are fine.  Via Site Settings -> Site Behavior -> More -> Open HTML Manager, I get (basically) Page Not Found:

Module: IIS Web Core
Notification: MapRequestHandler
Handler: StaticFile
Error Code: 0x80070002
Requested URL: http://localhost:80/Host/HTMLEditorManager?portalid=undefined&portpopUp=true
Physical Path: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\Host\HTMLEditorManager
Logon Method: Anonymous
Logon User: Anonymous

I ended up adding a page, then adding the HTML Editor Manager to that page in order to change manager/configuration, but still get File Not Found via Open HTML Manager button.

Any ideas as to why the HTML Editor page is not being created during upgrade?

it looks strange in passing portalid=undefined.
You should be able to access the editor using http://localhost:80/Host/HTMLEditorManager?portalid=0 (or whatever ID of your website is)

Thanks for the suggestion!

While http://localhost:80/Host/HTMLEditorManager?portalid=0 didn't get me there, it did give me a clue where to investigate.

As noted, clicking on the "Open HTML Manager Editor" button got me the Page Not Found error within the Persona Bar admin (slideout).

The suggested URL got me a Page Not Found from IIS (completely outside of DNN).

Playing around some, I found the problem might not be with the undefined portalid, but with the "Host" in the URL.

I substituted "DNN9" (the alias on my machine) for "Host" in the URL (leaving portalid=undefined) and successfully navigated to the HTML Editor Manager page, in a full page, not within the Persona Bar.

I have this same issue with both the upgraded site mentioned in my initial post and in a fresh DNN 9 install.

I don't know if this provides any clues as to what is going on...evidently something peculiar to my machine.

Oh well, your help got me to a workable workaround.

Thanks,
Bruce

Hi Bruce,
the issue might be caused by the port number, but the admin and host pages should still be present in DNN, just being hidden from menu.

I am having the exact same problem on a live site update to 9.02. The html editor is the old ckeditor. I upgraded it due to issues I was having and now it just spins and never opens to edit a module. I wanted to change to the newer dnn editor and can't due to the 404. This is quite disruptive.
