Definetly has issue with JQUERY and these API calls which should return JSON.

/API/PersonaBar/Pages/GetPageDetails?pageId=0

/API/PersonaBar/Users/GetUsers?searchText=&filter=0&pageIndex=0&pageSize=10&sortColumn=&sortAscending=false

Still digging.

m z,
Be sure there aren't two versions of jquery being loaded. I remember running into that a while back. Seems like I either had to change the order that they were loaded or I had to get rid of whatever was adding the other version. Hope that helps...

So here is how I fixed my issues with broken admin pieces after applying the patch to 8.0.3 just in case it will help anyone else in the same boat.

Day before yesterday I got a complete website backup along with a complete database backup. I loaded on to my development machine (win7) and made sure everything was as it was on the production server. The admin pieces were still broken and I could not add pages, modules, date popups were not working in the vendor module, etc. So rather than spend a ton of time trying to fix each of these problems and knowing how important the security update was I decided to try to update the site to 9.1.1 leaving the patch in place.

The upgrade went very smooth. I usually avoid major upgrades as long as possible as this has not been the case in the past with a major upgrade usually taking another week or two of tweaking to get everything working again. That is the whole reason I opted for the patch instead of just doing a complete upgrade.

Once the site came back up everything was there and working properly. I had access to most of what I had before in the admin piece (it has changed a bunch in the version so I'm still finding where things went). But all in all it was pretty painless and after testing all day yesterday I found that I could do everything I needed to do.

So last night at 11:30 pm I decided to run the same upgrade steps against the production server. I immediately did another full database and site backup and copied the 9.1.1 files over the top of my existing site. Then when I tried to access the site for the first time I got the host logon upgrade screen, so far so good. Well it got to 57% and bombed. The site still worked from the client side but the admin side was more broken than it was after the patch.

I played around with it for a bit and tried to copy the 9.1.1 files over again but nothing seemed to change. So I shut down IIS and deleted all the files from the site (about 7GB) and restored from the most recent backups. Looked at the site and everything was as it was before the upgrade attempt. Admin pieces were still broken but not as bad as after the upgrade failed attempt.

I decided to try one more time before I knocked off for the night, but this time I shut down IIS completely before I even started doing anything. (I left it up with a App_Offline.htm file in the root on the first attempt.) Also instead of supplying the host username and password when prompted I used Chris Hammond's trick of changing the url from /Install/InstallWizard.aspx to /Install/Install.aspx. I don't know if that had any effect but since that's how I did it on my devel machine I thought I'd try it.

This time everything upgraded as expected. Although I did have to restart the server a couple of times due to my sql transaction log running out of space which I fixed by freeing up some disk space (hopefully... at least the site would load without taking forever and pegging the CPU). I looked the site over real well from the user side then logged in as host and admin to make sure everything was working as planned and all seemed well. With that I went to bed (4 flippin' AM!).

I tested all day today and I haven't found anything that needs to be addressed. So actually this upgrade in the end went smoother than any I've done in the past (this site was running DNN 5.0 when I took it over). I've always counted on spending at least a week fixing little things that break during a major upgrade. The only thing I had to do this time around was to upgrade EasyDNNGallery as the version I had still used some telerik stuff, but thankfully Damir was already on top of it and had a patch/extension ready to be downloaded and installed.

I may still run into a few things but the upgrade is looking like it would have been a better bet than trying to use the patch. YMMV....

Hope this helps someone!

Has anyone made any progress on this?  I just upgraded to 9.1.1 from the last version of 8 and I can no longer manage my site.  The Persona bar shows up, but none of the admin or host functionality is available.  I am going to try to roll back, but just discovered that my most recent backup did not complete.

It is much worse then that. Having upgraded from 8 to 9.1.1 all I get is "500 - Internal server error. There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed." I guess I have to roll back.

Ken> i had/have the same issue. bang on 56% it stopped responding - moved from 9.0.5 to 9.1.1 - No errors, nothing! i have a full back up but i refuse to restore (in dev at the moment) until DNN (i am a paid EVOQ customer) checks out what and why this happens. Not good enough
