I am running DNN version 7.4.1.  I recently installed the security advisor 8.1.0 and the DNN Security Hot Fix 20171.  After this, I can no longer create links to 'exe' files using the hyper link option in RadEditor.  In fact, the document manger will no longer show 'exe' files.

I tried adding '*.exe' to the Rad Editor Document Manager filter.  When I do that, any attempt to open the document manager from the link manager results in the message "Cannot deserialize dialog parameters. Please refresh the editor page."

Serving 'exe' files to our customers is a requirement.

I filed this with DNN - https://dnntracker.atlassian.net/browse/DNN-10165.

The reply was: "the new security analyzer tightened up the allowed file extensions as well--meaning it prevents loading any executable file. You're advised to zip the executable and link to the zip file."

We restored our site back to get the original functionality.  I tried removing the Security Analyzer with no change in operation.

I understand the reason for the change, however, an option would have been better.

I understand your requirement, however, I fear that DNN Corp. sees more risk in opening up this option (the .exe might be used to execute code on the server machine).
