I need to be able to isolate my data at portal level so obviously I need to add a portal ID to my tables. Do I need to add a foreign key constraint to the portals table in order to keep the two in sync i.e. is there any risk that a portal ID could change?

I don't want however to delete my user data if the portal gets deleted.

Is it just a case of specifying a constraint for update cascade only and does anyone have an example of one or can tell me which table has the portalID in it?

Regards

A foreign key constraints with cascade delete would help to delete your module data, if the portal is deleted
A foreign key constraints with no action would prevent deletion of the portal record, If a record in your table exists.

But a cascade update would keep the ID in sync with the portal table?

Also what is the portal table called and are there any circumstances where the portal ID can change?

Portals.PortalID is an Identity column, i.e. the value is not subject to change.
