It took me a while to figure out how to programmatically set role permissions on a tab.

After I finally got it working I noticed that the method I used is marked as depreciated in 5.1, so can anyone show me how to do it correctly in the latest versions?

This is what I used:

DotNetNuke.Security.Permissions.TabPermissionInfo infPermission = new DotNetNuke.Security.Permissions.TabPermissionInfo();
DotNetNuke.Security.Permissions.TabPermissionController ctlTabPerm = new DotNetNuke.Security.Permissions.TabPermissionController();

infPermission.AllowAccess = true;
infPermission.RoleID = RoleId;
 infPermission.RoleName = roleName;
infPermission.TabID = tabId;
infPermission.PermissionID = 3; // View

ctlTabPerm.AddTabPermission(infPermission); <--- This is depreciated in 5.1

Just to share, here is what I came up with:

DotNetNuke.Entities.Tabs.TabController tabController = new DotNetNuke.Entities.Tabs.TabController();
DotNetNuke.Security.Permissions.TabPermissionInfo infPermission = new DotNetNuke.Security.Permissions.TabPermissionInfo();
DotNetNuke.Security.Permissions.PermissionProvider permissionProvider = DotNetNuke.Security.Permissions.PermissionProvider.Instance();

infPermission.AllowAccess = true;
infPermission.RoleID = RoleId;
 infPermission.RoleName = roleName;
infPermission.TabID = tabId;
infPermission.PermissionID = 3; // View

// Then retrieve the page
DotNetNuke.Entities.Tabs.TabInfo tabInfo = tabController.GetTabByName(tabName, this.PortalId);

// Change its permissions
DotNetNuke.Security.Permissions.TabPermissionCollection permissions = tabInfo.TabPermissions;
permissions.Add(infPermission, true); // true if checkForDuplicates

// Save the permissions
permissionProvider.SaveTabPermissions(tabInfo);
